| Outer SpaceA premonition of a horror film, lurking danger: A house - at night, slightly tilted in the camera's view, eerily lit - surfaces from the pitch black, then sinks back into it again. A young woman begins to move slowly towards the building. She enters it. The film cuts crackle, the sound track grates, suppressed, smothered. Found footage from Hollywood forms the basis for the film. The figure who creeps through the images, who is thrown around by them and who attacks them is Barbara Hershey. Tscherkassky's dramatic frame by frame re-cycling, re-copying and new exposure of the material, folds the images and the rooms into each other. It removes the ground from under the viewer's feet and splits faces, like in a bad dream. From the off, from outer space, foreign bodies penetrate the images and cause the montage to become panic stricken. The outer edges of the film image, the empty perforations and the skeletons of the optical sound track rehearse an invasion. They puncture the anyway indeterminate action of the film. Cinema tearing itself apart, driven by the expectation of a final ecstasy. Glass walls explode, furniture topples over. Tscherkassky puts his heroine under pressure, drives her to extremes. Time and time again she appears to hit out against the cinematic apparatus, until the images begin to stutter, are thrown off track...

| One-Day SeminarBenson Mountebank is the top-rated seminar speaker at The Tryan Learn Institute, where the motto is 'Real Seminars for Real People'. This short movie chronicles a day in the life of Benson as he checks into his hotel, gets ready in his room and teaches a one-day seminar on 'Succeeding as a First Time Manager'. We are initially greeted with an infomercial for The Tryan Learn Institute hosted by Ted Misanthrope, President and CEO. Ted claims that taking one of their highly informative seminars can change your life for the better. He goes on to explain how well trained and expertly hired their seminar speakers are. After the infomercial, we follow Benson as he checks into his hotel, goes to his room and prepares for the seminar. At the seminar Benson introduces himself and as the day progresses, we (along with the seminar attendees) bear witness to Benson's inability to put together a coherent thought. Benson doles out advice gleaned from unusual places and calls people up to the front to act out role-playing exercises, which only serve to confuse the attendees more. Is Benson really that inept or is there actual meaning behind his seemingly worthless advice and pointless activities? The only way to find out is to take a candid peek at a day in the life of Benson Mountebank, professional seminar speaker.

| One Track MindPhilip Ashforth Coppola has devoted all his free time in the last thirty years to cataloging and archiving every station in the New York City subway system. Using his own resources, this humble New Jersey printing press operator has self-financed a multi-volume "study" of his true passion: the rich, even rapturous design-work found within New York's underworld, conceived and constructed at a more adventurous time in our city's public-building history, and today forming the basis of unlikely - and often unnoticed - cathedrals of mosaic, faïence, terra cotta, tile, and steel. The film is a profile on Philip and his extreme obsession of the design and decoration of New York's 496 subway stations. Filmed over a course of four years, ONE TRACK MIND is a portrait of a man consumed by a singular passion --- a passion that few others share. The documentary, shot almost entirely in the subway system in post-9/11 New York, is also a loving portrait of a city's artistic idiosyncrasies.
