A research program abandoned by the best solar physicist when the Pentagon wanted to put it to military use has been resumed by his former deputy. The aliens dispatch a probe to examine the Earth vehicle, but Black assumes it to be hostile, and fires a burst of missiles which utterly destroys the entire city.
