Two soldiers on sick leave spend three nights at the Hollywood Canteen before going back to active duty. With a little friendly help from John Garfield, Slim gets to kiss Joan Leslie, who he has been dreaming about while in the Pacific. He meets her later at the Farmer's Market. On the third night, Slim is the millionth man into the Canteen, earning him a date with Joan. Slim thinks he's been duped when she doesn't show up at his train. Slim's buddy Sergant dances with Joan Crawford. Canteen President Bette Davis praises the canteen and the war effort. Virtually everyone Warners could spare entertains.

Freddie Frisby is informed by Bob Sears that he can't marry Bob's daughter, Judy, as he is only a fumbling failure as an orange picker, and Judy can do better. Freddie's prospects brighten up when he learns his uncle has left him his entire estate, but he learns that the estate consists entirely of a magician's paraphernalia. He decides to become a magician with Judy as his assistant, but while they are rehearsing, they are kidnapped by a band of payroll robbers.

The importance of good grooming is emphasized by showing how Don and Sue, a brother and sister, keep up their neat appearances. The benefits of not wearing red nail polish, "loud" sport shirts and "inappropriate" blouses are driven home by reminding students that "all through the day, other people are looking at you."

Ed, a teenager, applies for a job, but upsets his interviewer, Mr. Wiley, by criticizing a former employer. Mr. Wiley tells Ed the story of two brothers, Bob and Walter, who worked for him. Bob was neat, deferential and went along with the program and was promoted, while Walter was sloppy, surly and ungrateful, and was fired. Ed begins to think that being a company man maybe isn't so bad after all.

Hideko, a young lady working as a conductor with a bus company in Kofu, Yamanashi, has an idea for her bus that could avert the dwindling number of passengers. She asks the visiting author Ikawa to write for her a commentary to the local sites that she can read out to her passengers as they travel through the countryside. After escaping from an asylum the mad Dr. Niemann and his hunch back assistant revive Count Dracula, the Wolf Man and the Frankenstein monster in order to extract revenge upon their many enemies.

A group of celebrity dogs, led by an 'Edward G. Robinson' look-alike and including 'Jimmy Durante' , decide that celebrity dogs need a nightclub of their own. What follows is very similar to Hollywood Steps Out (1941), except that all the celebrities are drawn as dogs. Notable gags: Dogwood & Blondie making a sandwich of bones; Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy washing dishes, with Stan putting the washed dishes back into the sink; Bud Abbott and 'Lou Costello' as dogs; a sheepdog with hair in his eyes who suddenly has perfect vision when a pretty girl walks by. In an extended scene, Leopold Bowowsky conducts an orchestra; after a series of spot gags, a tuba player misses his cue because he was getting a cup of water, then blows the wrong note because of a fly on his score. Bing Crosby, who was earlier greeting patrons, loses a girl to Frank Sinatra, who was hiding behind a pencil-thin tree. Kaynine Kyser leads his band; we see quick solos from several jazz players, like "Hairy" James and "Boney" Goodman. Finally, the payoff of a running gag: a soldier who had been waiting to call home to Massachusetts gets to use a megaphone with that state's name on it.

This short, produced at the end of WWII, warns that although Adolf Hitler is dead, his ideas live on in the German people. The world must stay ever vigilant, so that Germany cannot make war against the world again. We must not be duped by Germany, as we were in the past, to believe that it is a peace-loving nation. The USA must also be on guard against those in America who sympathized with Germany and preach race hatred and violence in this country. The film uses dramatized footage interspersed with historical footage and newsreels.
